Welcome to Camp Classroom!

By Mrs. Alma López

🏕️On Friday, October 3, our sixth-grade English classroom was transformed into a cozy campsite as students participated in a special indoor camping activity inspired by the story “Scout’s Honor” by Avi.

📚In this story, three boys set out on a camping trip to prove their toughness and meet the expectations of being Boy Scouts. However, their experience teaches them that real courage and honor aren’t about pretending to be tough—they’re about being honest, responsible, and caring for one another.

🔦To bring the story to life, our classroom was dimmed and decorated with a tent, blankets, and lanterns. Students sat together at the campsite and discussed the characters’ adventures and challenges. The atmosphere helped everyone connect more deeply with the themes of friendship, bravery, and growing up found in the story.

⛺This indoor camping day wasn’t just fun—it turned reading into an adventure and brought the world of “Scout’s Honor” right into the classroom.
